VHG – Vision Casting – Part 2: Transformation

VHG DISCUSSION: CASTING VISION [AGAIN] – PART 2

Summary:
In Part 2 of this series, we will look at the power of transformation. God’s saving grace is a process with a goal. Through the proclamation of the gospel, those who accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ enter a glorious process of transformation, starting with themselves [2 Cor. 5:17] and extending into their world [Matt. 5:13]. Transformation, the reforming of the world to its original state and purpose, has always been at the heart of God. Sin had deformed the world and its inhabitants. The gospel reforms the world and its inhabitants. When this transformation takes place, God receives the glory from His creation [Rev. 4:11], humanity derives the benefits [Matt. 16:19], and the groaning creation can return to its original purpose [Rom. 8:22]. Transformation, the work of every believer, makes this world a better place to live. Worship services are good; making the world a better place for God’s glory is an even better form of worship! Let’s discuss how we can become better agents of transformation.
Discussion Questions:

  • According to Scripture, the entrance of Adamic sin adversely affected the makeup of this world [Gen. 3:17-19]. Including human beings, all that God had created is now out of alignment and out of purpose. List and discuss areas of this world that are clearly out of alignment with God and thus not functioning as intended. What can we as believers do about this?
  • The Heart Conclusion – It is the heart of our Senior Pastor that all of God’s people see the world through the creative lens of God and begin to serve with the intention of realigning the earth and its people to His original plan [Rom. 12:2].
  • According to Scripture, Jesus Christ is building His church, and in doing so all believers have been given spiritual authority to express His kingdom [Matt. 16:18-19]. Using the authority to allow and to disallow, believers are mandated not to accept the existing state of the world, but rather to change it to its original form. Discuss practically what it means to bind and to loose, and what areas of this world these actions cover. How do we know what to bind and what needs to be loosed?
  • The Heart Conclusion – It is the heart of our Senior Pastor that all of God’s people use their God-given spiritual authority in an effort to change the fabric and the makeup of this fallen world, working diligently and daily to ensure a world that glorifies God while benefiting all of its inhabitants, [Isa. 11:6-9].
