VHG DISCUSSION: THE JOURNEY – PART 1

Summary:
Scripture teaches this pattern; whenever God delivers a people, He does so because He has a destiny for them. The distance between deliverance and destiny is known as The Journey. Using Old Testament Israel as our model, we’re called to learn from their examples and apply them to our modern Rhema journey. Part 1 explores the relationship between God and People on the journey. From His intent to bring in those whom He has brought out, to His abiding presence, and His unfailing track record, God is the one constant on the journey. We, the people, must consider the effects of our decisions, the length of the journey, the subtle traps the devil lays along the way, and the power of our words to realize destiny. When done properly, this beautiful partnership between God and man leads to “a land that flows with milk and honey.” If done improperly, we will be left to wander in the wilderness until our days have expired. Let’s discuss this powerful message to see ourselves more clearly and learn how we can arrive at our destiny.
Discussion Questions:

  • According to Scripture, God knows the end from the beginning [Isa. 46:9-10]. We, on the other hand, do not, nor do we know the way [Josh. 3:4]. Knowing this, we who are on the journey must travel the distance with great humility and a willingness to follow God through His word, His Spirit, and His leader. Understanding that we have differing thoughts and positions, discuss some practical ways in which we can better align with where God is taking the ministry of Rhema, and how we can all begin to speak the same thing concerning the direction [Col. 2:2].
  • The Heart Conclusion – It is the heart of our Senior Pastor that all of God’s people unify concerning God’s direction, both in their local ministry and in the global body of Jesus Christ, ensuring that we as a collective arrive at our place of destiny with no one perishing outside of placement or purpose [1 Cor. 1:10].
  • According to Scripture, our decisions, our words, and our behaviour play significant roles in our journey to destiny. Sadly, ancient Israel often chose to be liabilities [Ex. 32:25-26]. Their words were often the cause of their demise [Deut. 1:25-28]. Unlike ancient Israel, discuss ways that we can be assets and not liabilities on this journey. Share thoughts and ideas on how we can rebuke the devil through our behavioural choices, and, finally, discuss how we can make better word choices that expedite, not delay, our journey.
  • The Heart Conclusion – It is the heart of our Senior Pastor that all of God’s people consider well and take godly authority over their choices, their words, and their behaviour, thereby ensuring divine pleasure with us, the rebuke of our satanic enemy, and the assurance of entry into the destiny ordained by God for those who finish the journey, both in this life and in the life to come.
