Summary:

The Speed of Technology examines the rapidly changing landscape of our world due to the advent and proliferation of modern technology. Whether through the internet, social media platforms, streaming services, or the coming age of artificial intelligence, it cannot be denied that technology is changing the very fabric of the world around us. Seeing that we cannot resist this change, how do we as Spirit-filled believers engage the inevitable without becoming slaves to the very technology that we’re either creating or using? With the understanding that technology provides a platform for greater exposure, the believer must now commit to using these tools to increase the visibility of Jesus Christ, further advancing His gospel, while ensuring that the world consumes quality content that ultimately glorifies God. Avoiding the temptation to promote ourselves on these platforms, the believer’s endgame, like that of John the Baptist, is to point everyone to Jesus Christ, [Mark 1:3].

Discussion Questions:

• Scripture teaches two great truths; the first is that as believers our mandate is to ensure that Christ increases while we decrease, [John 3:30], and the second is that we must never be ashamed of the message of the gospel, [Rom. 1:16-17]. Discuss what this looks like through our everyday use of modern technology. For example, what does this look like on your social media page, or in the content that you post, or the individuals that you follow? Provide some examples of content that you either have viewed or have posted that demonstrate these two truths.
